Faisel Laibi Sahi

Faisel Laibi Sahi was born in Basra, Iraq in 1945. He graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad, before completing his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad in 1971. In the following years he worked as an illustrator for a number of newspapers and magazines in Iraq, before moving to Paris, France in 1974.

In the following years he worked as an illustrator for a number of newspapers and magazines in Iraq, before moving to Paris, France in 1974. In France, he furthered his education at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts and at the Université de la Sorbonne in Paris.
After 10 years in France, he moved to Italy, living and working in Rome and Florence. In 1988 he moved to Algeria, with his wife Aisha, where he taught at the Fine Arts School in Skikda.
In 1991, after violence broke out in Algeria, Faisel and Aisha moved to the UK where they live and work to this day.
